The Easiest Way to Swoon

At the retreat in February, I decided to work on my Swoon blocks.  I had everything cut out but found myself having to spend a lot of time drawing the lines on the back of my square and rectangles for the flying geese and half-square triangle portions.  Usually, I just figure this is part of the process and move on, but looking at how many I had to mark I was feeling frustrated.

Now I have quite a few different rulers that help make flying geese and half-square triangles more efficiently, however, you have to cut your fabrics different sizes than those stated in the pattern.  I put the project aside and added it to my pile of "things to sew when I have more patience", which really means never.  Then, I found the Creative Grids Quick Trim Ruler! Watch the video to see all this ruler can do.

This ruler does a lot more than just flying geese, however, I would buy it for that alone!  They are perfect...every...single...time!

  3. My bindings come out perfect now. I need to try the flying geese using this ruler.
